Place a pencil mark on the top of the concrete form to identify the location of each vertical anchor bolt. Use the tape measure to measure the distance between each vertical anchor bolt. Place the anchor bolts anchor bolts in accordance with the requirements of your local building code.
Pour the concrete for the foundation. You want to install the vertical anchor bolts soon after the concrete is floated and while the concrete is still wet.
Line a bent anchor bolt up with the mark on the concrete form. Gently push the bent end of the anchor bolt into the concrete. Push the anchor bolt into the concrete to the depth required by the building code. For example, some building codes require the bolt to be inserted 7 inches into the concrete. The bolt should be vertically straight. Repeat this process for the rest of the vertical anchor bolts.
Tap the concrete in the area around the anchor bolts with the trowel to settle the anchor bolts into the concrete. Move the trowel in a circular motion around the anchor bolts to smooth the concrete around the bolts.
