How to Tape Drywall and Texture

      After the drywall is hung you can start taping. Knock out all damaged drywall. Any breaks or rough spots will hinder taping process. Fill all holes and gaps with speed set.

      Put a small line of compound up the corner. cut a piece of tape to fit and fold on center line. Fit tape in corner. Run four inch knife down tape on each side of corner to bond to corner tightly. Do this to all corners in the room. Now run compound along each seam and apply tape. Run knife over forcing tape to the sheetrock. Do this to all seams.

      Apply corner material to outside corners. Nail these tightly making sure corner sticks out a little more than each wall. Apply a piece of mesh tape to each side of corner. Fill corner bead with compound.

      Let dry and sand lightly. Apply a coat of compound to all tape lines and corners. They make a corner trowel for the corners. Fill seam groove full and fan out butt joints. Let this dry and sand again. Apply another coat of compound. Sand and touch up any necessary areas. You are ready to texture.

      Mix desired texture and use a texture gun or hopper sprayer to apply. Set nozzle for desired texture.
