How to Stick Plastic to Wood

Adhesive glues and tapes are the most common all-purpose fasteners. Professional adhesives come in solid, liquid and powder form. Epoxy resin is one of the more powerful and readily available adhesives on the market and creates a strong bond when joining dissimilar materials. Epoxy resin is extremely versatile and is less surface dependent than other types of glues.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean the surfaces of the plastic and wood of any dirt or dust that could prevent a strong bond.

    • 2

Lightly sand both the plastic and wood in the areas you will apply the adhesive. This will create a rough surface so the adhesive will easily bond to both materials.

    • 3

Mix equal parts of the epoxy and catalyst using a Q-tip.

    • 4

Apply the epoxy sparingly to both surfaces.

    • 5

Clamp the materials together with a clamp or a vise and allow to dry in a well ventilated area for 24 hours.
