Measure the width and the length of the garage addition you are putting in. Dig 6 to 8 inches on the measurements. Put four inches of gravel in the ditch you dug.
Pour concrete over the gravel, level with the ground. Let it set for 24 hours.
Take the 2-by-4's and tap them into the ground in each corner. Make sure the 2-by-4's create a square formation; take the string and run it from one 2-by-4 to the next. This is to square the area where you are laying the block for the garage addition.
Start at one corner with the block. Pour the concrete down and lay the block. Run this to the next corner. Use the level to make sure it is level and square. Take the concrete and concrete the block on top and bottom and sides. Off-set them as you are going up with the wall. Do this around the garage addition except where you are going to put the garage door. Check each row of block with the level to make sure it is level and square.
Measure from the ground up to the top block to make sure you have the right height for the garage addition. After you measure and you have the right height, take the I-beam and put it where you plan to install the garage door. Check the I-beam with the level to make sure it is level and square. Continue the block and run it up to the top block with the wall. Use the level to check that it is level and square with the wall block.
Measure and cut the 2-by-8's with the tape measure and the circular saw. Bolt them down with the lag bolts on top of the wall block. This is for the rafters for the garage addition roof.
Measure and cut the 2-by-8's for the rafters for the garage addition. Attach them to the 2-by-8's that you bolted down on the wall block. Once you cut and measure the 2-by-8's, measure and cut the 2-by-4's to build the roof trusses. Attach together by using the Philips screws, screw gun and Philips drill bit.
Find out how many trusses you need to make for the roof. Measure from one end of the 2-by-8's that are bolted down. Measure every 16 inches on center. Count the marks and that will tell you how many trusses to build. Now you can put the trusses up for the roof. Attach them to the 2-by-8's that you bolted down to the top of the wall.
Cover the roof trusses with the OSB board by using the hammer and roofing nails. Cover the front roof truss with the OSB board by measuring and cutting the OSB board with the circular saw. Attach them with the hammer and roofing nails.
Take the felt paper and attach it to the OSB board. This is to secure the roof from leaking. Measure the width and the length of the roof where you are laying the shingles. Use the chalk box to make sure the shingles don't go out of line. Put the first row of shingles upside down. Attach with roofing nails and hammer.
Measure the roof all the way to the top. Use the chalk box to mark the lines for the shingles to make sure they are straight and square. After the lines are done, start laying the shingles by off-setting them. Cut the shingles on the two tabs. Each shingle makes three caps. After you cut the caps, start laying them from where the garage door is back to the end of the roof.
Take the garage door and attach it using the brackets that came with it using the screws that came with the door, screw gun and the Philips drill bit.
