Where to Install a Mini-Split HVAC System

HVAC stands for "heating, ventilation and air conditioning." A mini-split HVAC system is a ductless HVAC system; it is comprised of two main units.
  1. Mini-Split

    • The two units that make up the mini-split HVAC systems are the slim-line outdoor condenser and an indoor air handler. The condenser supplies coolant to the handler through refrigerant lines, which cools the air.

    Handler Locations

    • Mini-split HVAC systems can be installed virtually anywhere in a building. This includes basements, attics, garages and offices. They can be mounted up high on a wall so they are out of the way and can dispense air throughout the entire room.

    Condenser Locations

    • Condensers are typically installed outside somewhere, such as the backyard. However, they may also be placed on a roof in order to save space and keep the backyard aesthetically pleasing.
