Instructions

    • 1

Mark the location where you will be building your pole barn. Use the measurements that are part of your pole barn building plans to measure out where the four corners of the barn will be using a can of spray paint. Also make marks every 11 to 12 feet so that you will know where to put brace posts to support the barn.

    • 2

Use a post hole digger to make holes two-feet deep at all of the markings you made with spray paint. Once the holes have been dug out to the proper depth, stick your 4-by-4 wood posts down into the holes. The 4-by-4 posts need to be about 9 to 10 feet high to allow for adequate standing room and storage space.

    • 3

Mix up a bag of concrete. Pour out some of the concrete mix into the post holes and use a level to ensure the poles are not crooked. Give the concrete three days to dry.

    • 4

Use 2-by-4 pieces to create the pole barn's frame. Nail three boards, a top, mid, and bottom board, to the corner posts and to the brace posts.

    • 5

Take your poles and stand them in the vertical position around the outside of the pole barn's frame. Use nails and a hammer to secure the poles in place, making sure they are in close proximity to one another. The type of poles you use should be standard wood poles typically used in the construction of most pole barns.Use nails at the top, in the middle, and at the bottom to make sure they do not move.

Use 2-by-4 pieces to create a frame for the pole barn's roof structure. Once the frame is completed, attach the metal siding to create the actual roof of the barn. Place the siding pieces down on the frame of the roof so that they overlap each other. You can use metal siding as the actual siding for the barn as well if you wish. Nail the siding pieces to the framework.
