Make the room as dark as possible in the daytime by installing draperies over windows. Also paint the room a dark shade to help with reflections. If the room is not carpeted, rugs can help with sound reflection problems and also make a more comfortable place for guests to watch a movie.
Research the placement of the components for your theater according to your room size and layout. Design a blueprint for where everything will be placed.
Run necessary cable and wiring through the walls according to the blueprint. Repair walls for a clean finish. Install rack mount and rack components; amplifier, processor, power conditioner and Blu-ray disc player.
Install a screen on the appropriate wall. This can be a fabric screen or can be painted on the wall. Install a 3D projector with a ceiling mount or wall mount, depending on distance from the screen. Connect appropriate cables to rack-mounted gear. Make sure a 3D source is available to take advantage of the 3D projector.
Install speakers in their designated places and connect wiring.
Install seating.
Test home theater components.
