How to Make Your Own 3D Theater

As movie prices rise and technology becomes cheaper, many homeowners have decided to invest in a 3D home theater and forgo the cinema altogether. With this trend, many companies are offering a variety of accouterments to help customize an unused room into a dramatic theater room. A theater room can range in cost and is a lot more than just a room with a big television. 3D technologies also range in price and some require expensive glasses for everyone who wants to watch.

Instructions

  1. Theater installation

    • 1

Make the room as dark as possible in the daytime by installing draperies over windows. Also paint the room a dark shade to help with reflections. If the room is not carpeted, rugs can help with sound reflection problems and also make a more comfortable place for guests to watch a movie.

    • 2

Research the placement of the components for your theater according to your room size and layout. Design a blueprint for where everything will be placed.

    • 3

Run necessary cable and wiring through the walls according to the blueprint. Repair walls for a clean finish. Install rack mount and rack components; amplifier, processor, power conditioner and Blu-ray disc player.

    • 4

Install a screen on the appropriate wall. This can be a fabric screen or can be painted on the wall. Install a 3D projector with a ceiling mount or wall mount, depending on distance from the screen. Connect appropriate cables to rack-mounted gear. Make sure a 3D source is available to take advantage of the 3D projector.

    • 5

Install speakers in their designated places and connect wiring.

    • 6

      Install seating.

    • 7

      Test home theater components.
