Clean the surface of the brick. Wipe the brick down with a clean, damp cloth to remove any dust or debris. This will help the adhesive remover bond to the construction glue.
Put on the protective gloves and safety goggles. Construction removal pastes, especially solvent-based products, can be toxic and cause irritation to the eyes and skin burns.
Apply the adhesive remover. Construction glue removers vary from citrus-based and soy-based products to solvent-based products. Solvent-based products are usually required for heavy-duty adhesives such as construction glue. Squeeze the paste from the tube so it covers the affected area of brick.
Wait for the adhesive remover to take effect. Manufacturer guidelines vary, but most construction glue removal products take several hours to take effect.
Test the construction glue. Prod the glue with a putty knife to see if it has softened and is ready for removal. Do not attempt to scrape it away if still hard.
Remove the glue once softened. Use a putty knife to scrape away the layers of adhesive until you reach the brick surface beneath.
