Instructions

    • 1

Prepare your subfloor for the Thomasville wood flooring. Vacuum and remove protruding nails or staples in the floor with a hammer.

    • 2

Move the Thomasville wood floors into the room so the wood can become accustomed to the temperatures in the room prior to installation. The flooring should be in the room for several days before installation.

    • 3

Place the Thomasville wood planks for the first row of flooring along the longest wall of the room. Line the flooring pieces up together. Trim the last plank to fit the row with a miter saw. Space the flooring out from the wall ½ inch to allow for expansion. Nail the wood flooring planks in place with a pneumatic nail gun.

    • 4

Lay the rest of the Thomasville wood flooring. Piece the rows together and use a tapping block and rubber mallet to push the pieces together. Nail the wood flooring planks down with a nail gun. The nails should go directly through the tongue of the board. Cut the last plank in each row with a miter saw.

    • 5

Rip the last row of flooring on a table saw. Measure the distance between the installed wood flooring and the wall. Subtract ½ inch to account for the expansion gap between the wall and the flooring. Mark the measurements on the top of the Thomasville planks with a pencil. Cut them to size on the table saw.

    • 6

Place the last row of flooring in the gap between the wall and the installed flooring. Carefully pull the row tight with a flat pry bar. Nail in place through the top of the planks.

    • 7

Fill the nail holes in the last row of flooring with tinted wood filler.

    • 8

Cover the expansion gap between the Thomasville wood flooring and the walls with baseboards.
