How to Install Laminate Flooring Molding on Concrete to Carpet

While the new laminate flooring you have chosen for your home may be the "centerpiece" of the project, the various moldings are the finishing touches. End molding is the piece used for transitioning from laminate to carpet and provides a smooth, slightly rounded and beveled transition. The piece of molding fits into a track that is installed in between the carpet and the laminate flooring planks. Even though the subfloor is concrete, you can still attach the track and molding by use of proper concrete nails or screws, or concrete adhesive.

Instructions

    • 1

Ensure the gap between the carpet and laminate flooring is approximately 1 1/8-inch wide. If not, you will need to cut one of the surfaces to create this gap; the carpet may be the easier to deal with.

    • 2

Dry-fit the track and molding in the gap to identify the correct position of the track in the gap.

    • 3

Spread a serpentined line of concrete adhesive to the back of the track and press the track down in the gap in the determined correct position.

    • 4

Begin pushing the molding piece into the track at an angle, starting at one side and working to the other. The molding should be completely attached to the track when you get to the end.
