Instructions

    • 1

Spread a layer of heavy duty concrete degreaser and stripper on the concrete surface with a paint roller. Allow the solution to remain on the concrete for several minutes and scrub the surface with a stiff broom to loosen ground in stains and debris. Rinse the floor thoroughly with clean water and allow it to dry for at least six hours.

    • 2

Stir a bucket of concrete and masonry bonding primer, without introducing air bubbles to the primer. Apply a coat of the primer to the concrete floor with a paint roller and allow it to dry for at least eight hours.

    • 3

Acclimate your Novalis peel and stick plank flooring in the room where they will be installed for 48 hours prior to installation. This allows the planks to reach the same average temperature as the room, and will reduce the likelihood of undue shrinkage or swelling due to temperature changes.

    • 4

Remove the baseboards in the room by gently prying them away from the wall with a pry bar. Set the boards and nails aside to be reinstalled once you are done with the flooring.

    • 5

Divide the room into four quarters, pulling a chalk line between the midpoints of both walls. Begin laying the planks from the center of the room toward the wall, ensuring that you are following the directional markings found on the back of the flooring plank.

    • 6

Place a plank into position and check that it fits and is aligned properly. Then remove the paper backing from the back of the plank and carefully lay it into place. Firmly press the plank into place. Lay the next plank directly against the previous one, leaving no gaps between the planks, until all the pieces have been laid.

    • 7

Clean excess adhesive from the face of the planks with a dampened sponge immediately after installation. Waiting will give the adhesive time to harden on the surface of the planks. Using a rolling pin, press down on the planks, rolling the pin along the planks to secure the adhesive to the concrete floor beneath them. Replace the baseboards once this has been done to complete your Novalis flooring project.
