A door saddle is a piece of material that transitions from one type of flooring to another, such as from wood to carpet. The saddle is usually placed under the door’s threshold for a clean transition. If you are installing a door saddle to transition from a bathroom to a wood floor it’s best to use a wooden door saddle to tie the rooms together neatly. While metal door saddles, used to transition between carpet and vinyl or tile flooring, are often screwed to the floor, wood glue is the preferred method for installing wooden door saddles.
