Measurements of an EC36 Fireplace

Product Dimensions

• A fireplace's product dimensions are the measurements of the firebox, including the unit's overall depth, height and width. The Heatilator EC36's overall product dimensions are 34.5 inches tall, 37 inches wide and 40.25 inches tall. This fireplace has a trapezoidal shape, meaning the unit's front side (the open side) is wider than the rear wall. The rear wall is 25.25 inches wide and has the same height as the fireplace's opening, which is 21 inches tall and 36 inches wide. The top of the fireplace features a smokestack leading to the house's chimney. The circular smokestack has a 10.5 inch diameter.

Grill Panels

• Some of the fireplace's overall width and height dimensions include the EC36's grill panels. The grill panels cover the EC36 fireplace's fans, which assist the fireplace in spreading heat throughout a room. The fireplace has two series of grill panels, one above the fireplace's opening and the other below. Both series of grill panels are 6.75 inches tall and 36 inches wide.

Termination Cap

• The termination cap is part of the EC36 fireplace and rests on top of the chimney. This part of the chimney is responsible for protecting the chimney and fireplace box from damage from inclement weather. The small holes in the termination cap allow smoke to exit the chimney, but prevent debris from entering the chimney. The overall height of the termination cap is 23.5 inches. The top of the cap is 13.25 inches, while the cap's bottom is 17.75 inches.

Chimney

• When using an EC36 fireplace, a house must meet certain requirements when it comes to its chimney's size. A house's chimney allows smoke to leave the house and improper sizing is detrimental to a house's occupants and décor. The minimum height of a straight chimney must be 13 feet, while 90 feet is the maximum height for a straight chimney. Offset chimneys must be at least 14.5 feet tall. These height measurements are based on starting the measurement from the base of the Heatilator EC36.
