Instructions

    • 1

Measure the length and width of the area on which you want to place the stainless steel. Measure how tall and wide the opening of the fireplace is and note how far from either side the opening sits. Take your measurement a few times to ensure accuracy.

    • 2

Purchase a thin sheet of stainless steel from a home improvement store. Have the professionals at the home improvement store cut the sheet to the dimensions taken in Step 1.

    • 3

Smooth the edges of the cut metal with a fine metal grinder.

    • 4

Apply heat resistant tile adhesive with a trowel to the surface of the fireplace where the facade will sit.

    • 5

Line one of the edges of the stainless steel up with one of the edges of the fireplace. Slowly and carefully set the edge of the stainless steel onto the edge of the fireplace.

    • 6

Press the rest of the facade onto the front of the fireplace, moving from one edge to the other.

    • 7

Smooth out the surface of the stainless steel with a 4-inch wide rubber roller. Start at the bottom edge of the stainless steel and work your way up and over to the opposite edge of the material.
