How to Connect Two Pieces of Triple-Wall Chimney Pipe

Triple-wall chimney pipe is an insulated, air-blanketed piece commonly used for fireplaces, furnaces, wood stoves, ranges, water heaters and other appliances fueled by wood, coal, gas or oil. This type of chimney is designed to provide a hot draft on the inside and remain cool on the outside surface, allowing installation with minimum clearance to combustible materials.

Instructions

    • 1

Stand a section of triple-wall chimney upright, with the narrowed rim end connection at the top.

    • 2

Hold the chimney section to be connected upright, directly above the section placed in Step 1. Align the “L” groove stamped in the rim with the guide tab of the lower section.

    • 3

Slip the upper section down over the rim of the lower section, making certain that the guide tab feeds into the “L” groove. Press the rims together until fully inserted. Hold the lower section so it won't turn, and rotate the upper section clockwise to lock the guide tabs into the upper section.
