Establish the chimney pipe center mark on the ceiling. Access the ceiling surface from a ladder and use a plumb bob or level to define the center of the woodstove's chimney flange. If your chimney assembly contains an offset before penetrating the ceiling, measure the offset distance on the ceiling from the center point of the chimney flange.
Measure the ceiling box's outside dimensions, then lay out the ceiling cut-out perimeter from the center point marked in Step 1. Scribe the outline of the cut using a utility knife and framing square.
Cut out the opening in the ceiling drywall for the ceiling box using a drywall saw or utility knife.
Slide the top of the ceiling box assembly up through the ceiling hole until the nailing fins are tight to the ceiling. Secure the ceiling box to the ceiling joists with stitcher screws using a screwdriver.
Install the ceiling box's trim collar over the nailing fins and snap into the metal clips to complete the installation. The ceiling box is ready for the assembly of the chimney piping.
