Cut the fire-resistant cement board to fit in the chosen location for the corn stove and to the dimensions just calculated. Secure the cement board in place with screws.

    • 3

Dry fit the tile, brick, pavers or stone in place making any cuts needed. Use trim pieces along any edges for a professional look and to protect the project from potential cracking. Remove the noncombustible pavers, tile, brick or stone from the cement board so that the placement can be easily reassembled.

    • 4

Spread mastic across the cement board with the trowel, moving it back and forth in a wave pattern. Replace the tile, bricks, pavers or stone on the mastic in the proper arrangement, pushing down on each to ensure solid contact with the mastic. Allow mastic to dry overnight.

Spread grout between the tiles, bricks or stone. Pavers do not need to be grouted. Fill a bucket half full of water. Dampen the sponge in the water and gently clean extra grout off of the tile, bricks or stone. Smooth the grout between each. Allow to dry 24 to 36 hours before installing stove on pad.
