A drip cap diverts water from flowing over the front of a door during rainy weather. Drip caps generally are made from rot-resistant wood or PVC that can hold up to constant moisture. If your home is made of brick siding, you still can install a drip cap over your door. The drip cap needs to be glued onto the brick siding using a mortar adhesive before adding screws and caulk.
