How to Install Soffit and Fascia on a Sloped Metal Shed

Metal sheds have roofs similar to houses, with eaves that overhang the shed itself. Soffit boards cover the eaves of your shed, and fascia boards cover the roof’s trusses to give the shed a finished look. Since the shed is metal, both aluminum soffits and aluminum fascia boards should be used to keep the look of the shed uniform. You can install the soffit and fascia boards on your own with simple tools.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the space between the shed’s walls and the roof’s trusses with the measuring tape.

    • 2

Put on the goggles and cut the aluminum soffits to shape. Cut them as wide as the shed to truss measurement and as long as each side of the shed.

    • 3

Place the F-channels against the shed so they stick out, with the notched edge facing away from the shed. The F-channel should be parallel to the roof's trusses. Use the drill to screw the channel to the metal shed. Space the F-channels at each corner of the shed.

    • 4

Slide the aluminum soffit into the F-channel. Use the hammer to nail the soffit to the roof truss. Repeat the process until all the soffit boards are nailed to the shed.

    • 5

Fit the aluminum fascia boards over the shed’s truss and the soffit. Nail the fascia boards to the front of the truss with the hammer. Nail the underside of the fascia boards to the soffit with the hammer.
