Instructions

    • 1

Clear and prepare the area that you have selected to place your carport. Remove all plants, weeds, tree stumps, rocks and debris. You may have a concrete pad poured or lay a bed of gravel in the location of the carport. The typical size of a single car carport is 10 feet by 20 feet.

    • 2

Dig a hole near each corner. Place the holes four feet from the width edge along the length of the concrete pad or gravel area. The holes should be at least 12 inches in diameter and 12 inches deep. Place a ten foot post in each hole. Both posts at the front of your carport should be 6 inches higher than the back ones to create a slope to allow rain to flow off of the carport roof. Use a leveling tool to be sure each post is level. Trim or adjust the posts if necessary.

    • 3

Mix the cement according to the manufacturer's directions. Fill the area around the post with cement to provide it with a secure footing. Let the cement cure for at least 24 hours before continuing your project.

    • 4

Screw the sides of the framework to the four corner brackets to form a rectangle. Fasten the screws to the corner brackets with a nut. Measure along each side and diagonally from corner to corner to ensure the frame is square. The frame consists of two 10 foot lengths and two 20 foot lengths of aluminum fascia that holds the roofing material.

    • 5

Slide the aluminum roofing panels into the frame. Begin with one panel at each end of the frame so the frame will remain square. Insert panels along the entire length of the frame. Secure the panels in place with screws.

    • 6

Screw a column bracket to the top end of each support bracket. Lift the aluminum roof and place it on top of the support beams. Secure the roof to the support beams by fastening it with screws to the column brackets.
