How to Add a Rope Ladder to a Swing Set

A swing set not only gives your children a fun outdoor activity but also helps them build muscle coordination and strength. Traditional swing sets typically include swings, a slide and a bar or two to swing from and climb on. You can add a rope ladder to any swing set that has the space available, giving your kids one extra thing to play on. Adding a rope ladder isn’t difficult and requires only the purchase of a kit or the materials to build one and attach it to the swing set.

Instructions

    • 1

Assemble the rope ladder according to its included instructions.

    • 2

Lay the assembled ladder at the base of the swing set where it will be tied over the top-most support.

    • 3

Loop the top length of one side of the rope ladder over the top of the swing set support beam. Leave 12 inches of rope free to form the knot.

    • 4

Tie a double running bowline knot to hold it securely in place.

    • 5

Repeat Steps 3 and 4 to secure the other side of the rope ladder. Tug on the ladder to make sure the knots are secure. If one side comes undone, re-tie the knot.
