How to Cut the Angle on Caps for Landscape Blocks

Lay the capstone into the installation location as best you can. If another stone is already in place, lay it on top of the existing one. If you are installing a row of caps that curve outward, place the first and third stones in place and then lay the second stone on top of them so it straddles them evenly. You will be cutting the first and third stones, but not the second.

Hold the cap firmly in place and draw a line on the top of it using a pencil to indicate the angle of the cut. Repeat the process on the other side of the cap, if applicable, to draw the cut line on it.

Put on ear protection and safety glasses and then screw a grade hose onto the water inlet hole of a diamond-blade masonry saw. Plug the saw into an outdoor electrical outlet, using an outdoor approved extension cord, if needed.

Place the cap on the ground with the pencil line facing upward. Turn it so that the pencil line is at an angle that is easy for you to cut. Turn the garden hose on a slow trickle and then turn on the saw.

Squeeze the trigger of the masonry saw and slowly push it through the pencil line until it cuts through the capstone. Repeat to cut the other side of the stone, if applicable.

Shut the saw off and place the cut stone into position to ensure the angles are correct.

Repeat the process to mark and cut each remaining capstone for the landscape blocks.
