How to Paint New Wood Fascia on Our House

Fascia wood on a home usually supports the house’s gutter and makes up a portion of the home’s trim as well. If you have new wood fascia on your home, painting it will help make it match the rest of your home’s trim. Select a waterproof, exterior paint for the fascia wood that is the same color as the trim on your house. An exterior primer will also help the paint on your fascia last longer.

Instructions

    • 1

Use the paintbrushes and rollers to apply the primer to the fascia wood. Allow the primer to dry. Rinse off the rollers and paintbrushes with water.

    • 2

Pour the paint into the roller pan about 2 to 3 inches deep.

    • 3

Dip the paintbrush into the paint and paint along the fascia board line that holds up the gutter. Paint along each surface where there’s a gap between the backside of the fascia board and the eaves. The backside of the fascia board faces the house and not the yard. Paint the bottom edge of the fascia board, the edge that faces downward, with the paintbrush as well.

Roll the roller in the pan to coat it with paint. Use the roller to paint over the backside of the fascia boards.

    • 5

Cut the paint along the area where the roof and fascia board meet on the outside of the house. Use the roller to paint over the outward facing fascia board.
