How to Install a Gerard Gable Edge Tray

Gerard Roofing Technologies manufactures steel panel roofing, and a major part of installation of this durable and fashionable roofing material is providing protection from water building up at the edge of the roofing, potentially rotting out the plywood or other surface under the metal panels. An edge tray is one of the methods used to protect the facing edge of the roofing and siphon water into the gutters.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Nail the gable edge trays to the gable, with the flange facing up. The flange should be the same height as the Gerard panels you are using so the connection is flush.

    • 2

Overlap the trays about 2 inches as you move up the angle of the gable to the peak.

    • 3

Glue the flanges of the metal edge trays to the ends of the Gerard panels after they are installed, using approved adhesive. You may have to trim the last layer of the panels to make them fit flush against the edge trays.
