Draw pencil lines on the locations of the rail posts, which are at the very bottom of the stairs and at the top of the stairs. Position the posts at least 3 1/2 inches from the side of the stairs.
Hold a mounting post over each marked location and mark each screw hole using a pencil. Set the post aside and don safety glasses. Create a 1 5/8-inch deep hole in each screw hole location using a drill and a quarter-inch masonry bit.
Position the posts back into place, aligning the holes on the posts with those on the brick. Insert a nut onto the shaft of masonry anchors and insert the tips of the anchor into the screw holes on the post. Hit the anchors firmly with a hammer to drive them into the underlying brick.
Place the angled rail into place so the bottom edge touches the post at the bottom of the stairs and the top of the rail touches the post at the top of the stairs. Ensure that the slide connectors, which are located on the underside of each rail end, extend out and touch the posts. Ask another person to hold the railing in place.
Kneel near the post at the bottom of the stairs. Find the screws in the slide connector and tighten them with a screwdriver to extend the screws into the posts.
Walk to the top of the stairs and attach the top of the railing to the top post in the same manner.
Repeat the process to install another metal railing on the other side of the brick stairs, if desired.
