Instructions

Install a screen clip at the patio posts’ tops and bottoms. These clips typically install on the patio’s outside. Some are between post mounts for patios with special conditions. Screw the clip to the post using the clips and screws provided for your particular screen channel. Install all of your vertical channel pieces first.

Measure and cut the vertical channel to fit the clip and the height you want. Cut with tin snips or a hack saw and saw box. Some channels come with end caps, which simply press over the raw edges. Repeat for all of your verticals. Snap or hammer the channels into the clips with a mallet.

Measure and cut the horizontal channels. Attach the horizontal channels so that the screen attachment grooves align. With some manufacturers, the horizontal channels are screwed directly to the post. With others, the channels connect to the vertical rails. Follow the manufacturer's directions for your specific type.

Place the screen over the channels. Install the rubber screen spline into the groove along the horizontal channel’s top. Keep the screen material straight. A rolling screen tool presses the spline into the groove. Stretch the screen to the bottom and roll the spline into the groove all the way around the channels. Repeat this process for each panel. Trim excess screen with a sharp utility knife guided along the rubber spline’s outside edge.
