How to Fit a Tile & Slate Clamp

A tile and slate clamp is used to affix antennae, cameras and other light items to tile roofs. Tile and slate clamps are designed to slide under and clamp onto roof tiles. This simple fitting mechanism allows the clamp to slide on and off the roof without damaging the tiles. The best way to fit a tile and slate clamp is to bring it up to the roof preassembled. This will minimize your time on the roof and maximize your safety.

  Slide the top notch of the top left galvanized strip just under the tile. Lift the lip of the tile with your fingers or a screwdriver first to facilitate installation. The ridge on the back of the notch will hold the galvanized strip in place.

  Fit the right galvanized strip in place following the method in Step 1.

  Swing the bottom galvanized strip up so it lines up with the vertical "T" bar. Fit it in place following the instructions in Step 1.

  Shift the entire unit upward to slide the galvanized strips underneath the tile. Stop when the top ridge of the cross member catches on to the bottom lip of the tiles directly above it.

  Tighten the nuts on the galvanized strips' bolts with a socket wrench. Tighten the nuts securely, but not too tight or you may crack the tiles.

  Affix the mount and device to the mast of the tile clamp according to the manufacturer's instructions.
