Remove the wind wrap or other protective wrap that covers the home's wall sheathing or foam board.
Caulk gaps in the wall sheathing or the existing foam around doors, windows and utility inlets with a silicone caulk. Re-tape existing foam boards if necessary.
Check the 6-inch-deep wall pockets for insulation and have a professional with the proper equipment add sprayed insulation through the wall sheathing if insulation has settled. Manufactured homes use 2-by-6 inch studs, which leaves plenty of room for fiberglass batts or cellulose fill.
Affix foam boards to exterior walls with construction adhesive. Tape seams with foil tape to keep water out and stop infiltration of cold air and insects. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the type of adhesive, tape and any nailing instructions.
Wrap the entire house with a wind or fire-retardant paper as dictated by local building codes. Tape the wrap down around windows, doors, and other edges and openings with insulation tape.
Nail 1-by-2 vertical nailing strips every 16 inches over the wall studs. These strips will provide purchase -- a solid material -- so siding nails don't have to make holes through layers of foam.
