Place ladders several feet apart below the ceiling joists along one of the walls of the garage.
Unroll batting insulation. Hold one end of the batting and have a helper hold the other. Climb the ladders holding onto the batting.
Fit the batting into the space between the joists so that the end is in the corner. The vapor barrier of the batting should be facing upward. Staple the batting to the joists using the tabs on the sides of the insulation. After you staple the tabs closest to you, pass the staple gun to your helper so he can finish on his end. Continue hanging batting between the joists until the garage ceiling is filled.
Drill screws into the joists every 3 feet down the length of each beam. Line the screws up every 3 feet, so they are in straight lines if you look across the beams at a perpendicular angle. Leave about 1/2 inch of the screw sticking out of the wood.
Run wire perpendicular to the joist beams. Start at a screw head on one side of the garage and twist the wire around it. Run the wire to the next screw in the line and wrap the wire around it twice, then move to the next screw. Continue until you reach the other side of the garage ceiling. Repeat with each row of screws, every three feet. This will help keep the batting from falling.
