Schuco Solar Panel Mounting Instructions

Schuco is a German company with an American subsidiary headquartered in Connecticut. Schuco manufactures solar panels, mounting racks and peripheral products. Although the company is a brand name solar equipment manufacturer, the job of mounting any solar panel is generic. However, as Schuco states, "each installation is unique." In general, mounting racks are attached to roofs. Solar panels are then attached to the mounting racks. The panels are then wired to a variety of electrical connections that range from special equipment supplied by your local utility company to simple transformers.

Instructions

    • 1

Select a location to mount your solar panel or panels on either the east or west side of your roof where the panel or panels will be exposed to the most sunlight.

    • 2

Position the "stand-offs" of your Schuco solar panel mounting rail or rails at least 4 feet apart and over rafters so that the stand-offs can be bolted to the rafters.

    • 3

Drill holes through the mounting holes in the stand-offs into each rafter with an electric drill and a 3/8 inch bit. Bolt the standoffs to the rafters using lag bolts and a box wrench.

    • 4

Cover the bolts with roof sealer.

    • 5

Attach the Schuco solar "EZ rails" to the stand-offs using the hardware included with the rails and an Allen wrench.

    • 6

Push Schuco "EZ clamps" onto the rails. Mount the solar panel or panels to the "EZ clamps" using the bolts included with the clamps and an Allen wrench.

    • 7

Route the cables from the panels to your specialty electrical meter, transformer or battery bank according to your plan for using the solar energy your panels will generate.
