Types of Jeld-Wen Glass

Jeld-Wen was founded in Oregon in 1960 by Richard Wendt, crafting windows and doors. Today Jeld-Wen manufactures durable, energy-efficient windows and doors, using a variety of glass options. Jeld-Wen offers a glass option for transitions of any climate while providing unique styles, colors and textures to complement many types of architecture. All glass produced by the company is designed to lower energy costs.
  1. Low E Glass

    • Low E, or low-emissivity, glass coatings are composed of thin, clear layers of silver and anti-reflective metal oxide. These metallic coatings filter out the sun's energy during warm weather and reflect it back indoors during the cold weather. Low E coating materials can be altered, layers increased or decreased, to adapt to specific climatic conditions.

Jeld-Wen offers Low E and LoE 3-366 glass options. Low E glass reduces energy costs, protects furniture from fading and lowers condensation. LoE 3-366 is an advanced glass that provides more protection and conserves more energy.

    ImpactGard

    • Jeld-Wen's ImpactGard protection is built into some of the company's vinyl, wood and aluminum windows and patio doors. ImpactGard protection is designed to resist crashes from airborne debris and harsh atmospheric conditions that might occur in hurricanes. According to Jeld-Wen.com, the laminated glass used in ImpactGard can endure the force of a 9-pound piece of lumber striking it at nearly 34 mph. The glass also decreases outdoor noises and provides UV protection.

    Decorative Glass

    • Jeld-Wen's artisans create designs for the company's decorative glass collection, using techniques such as hand beveling and leading each glass panel. Jeld-Wen offers an array of distinctive patterns to accommodate a variety of architectural styles.

    Tinted Glass

    • Jeld-Wen's tinted glass collection is designed for geographic locations that experience extreme sunlight. The collection includes an assortment of patterns and colors, such as opal wispy pale caramel, opal transparent pale amber and opal light green wispy. The colorful tinted glass reduces glare and visible light. An energy-efficient clear glass option, composed of two glass layers with an airspace, allows visible light to shine through.
