Loosen the two screws holding the Bosch 2700ES's lid in place, located on the bottom rear of the unit. Turn the screws counterclockwise with a Phillips screwdriver. Lift the lid off the 2700ES.
Locate the wall studs in the wall the 2700ES mounts against, using a stud finder. Secure the 2700ES's mounting tabs, located on the sides of the unit, to the wall studs with four wall anchors.
Connect a section of 3- or 4-inch sealed single-wall stainless steel vent pipe to the 2700ES exhaust port, the hole located in the top center of the 2700ES. Run the exhaust pipe to an approved location, using the local building code as an installation and pipe-size guide. The vent pipe must slope at least 1/4-inch per foot toward the unit and have at least 3 feet but not more than 26 feet of straight pipe between the unit and the wall termination.
Attach the air-intake pipe to one of the 2700ES air-intake ports, located to the left or right of the 2700ES's exhaust port. Use the same size pipe used for the exhaust pipe. Locate and install the air-intake pipe, using the local building codes as a guide. The air intake's outside termination louver must receive fresh air from a spot at least 3 feet from the exhaust port's discharge louver.
Cover both ends of a 3/4-inch gas pipe nipple with a pipe thread compound. Insert one end of the nipple into the 2700ES's gas-intake port, located on the bottom center of the unit. Tighten the nipple with a pipe wrench. Connect the other end of the nipple to the building's gas supply pipe, using the local building codes as an installation guide. Usually the gas supply pipe connects to the nipple with a gas pipe union.
Cover the threads on two 3/4-inch male plumbing nipples with pipe thread compound. Twist the nipples into the water ports, located on the bottom of the 2700ES to the left and right of the gas intake port. Tighten the nipples with the pipe wrench.
Connect the nipple on the 2700ES's right-hand side to the building's cold water supply pipe, using local building codes as a guide. Many building codes allow flexible connections between a tankless water heater and the building's plumbing pipes. Other codes require that the tankless water heater hard pipe into the water system.
Attach the nipple on the left-hand side of the 2700ES to the building's hot water pipe, following the local building code.
Plug the 2700ES into a 120-volt electrical outlet.
