Measure the length and width of each panel of the garage door. Allow enough height on each piece so it can tuck behind the horizontal rails of the door. Do not allow extra on the width of each piece.
Hold a straight edge tool along the line where you need to cut on one of the panels from the door insulation kit. Cut the panels to fit by pulling a utility knife along the straight edge tool. It may take several passes with the knife to cut through the thick foam panels. Cut all the panels in a similar manner.
Trim excess foam pieces with the utility knife so they fit behind the vertical rails of the garage door. Tuck the foam into place.
Set the bottom edge of a piece of foam insulation in the bottom of a horizontal rail. Face the laminated side toward the inside of the garage and the scored side facing the garage door. Gently bend the foam toward you enough so that you can slip the top of the foam panel behind the horizontal rail above it. Seat the foam firmly in both the upper and lower rails.
Continue adding foam panels to the rest of the door panels.
