What Kind of Nails Are Used for Concrete?

There are many different types of nails used in construction. They vary in size, metallic composition and use. For nailing into concrete, there a couple of different options. A concrete-compatible nail is best so damage is not done to the concrete and the item being nailed down is attached securely.
  1. Black Concrete Nails

    • Black concrete nails come in varying sizes and head types. They are manufactured of black carbon steel so they retain the strength to penetrate concrete.

    Galvanized Concrete Nails

    • Galvanized concrete nails can be found with or without a head on them. They are an iron type nail plated in zinc. To maintain the strength needed for penetrating concrete, they are manufactured with a mixture of carbon steel.

    Traditional Concrete Nails

    • Using special mixes of iron and creative design, traditional concrete nails are manufactured to affix things to concrete. These nails are shorter and thicker than most common nails.

    Concrete Anchors

    • Differing from nails, concrete anchors provide a firmer grip in the concrete so heavy items may be more securely attached to the concrete.
