Installation Instructions for a Genie Wireless Keypad GWKP

Securing your garage door can be just as important as securing any other door in your home. This is especially true with automatic garage doors, as they have potentially harmful moving parts. The Genie Wireless Keypad, which is compatible with any Genie product that uses Intellicode radio signaling, features an eight-key customizable PIN that will keep your garage secure. Installing the Genie Wireless Keypad does not require any wiring. It is a simple matter of mounting the keypad properly.

Instructions

    • 1

Determine a suitable spot to mount the keypad. The keypad should be at least 5 feet off the ground, not in the way of any moving parts, and must be within sight of the garage door.

    • 2

Open the battery cover on the front of the keypad. Remove the included 9-volt battery and set it aside. You should find the mounting screws in the battery compartment.

    • 3

Drill a pilot hole, using a 1/16-inch drill bit. This will be for the top mounting screw.

    • 4

Screw in the mounting screw. Do not screw the mounting screw in all the way. Leave 1/8 inch between the wall and the screw.

    • 5

Slide the keypad onto the top mounting screw.

    • 6

Line up the keypad's bottom screw hole with the wall. Mark the spot. Drill a 1/16-inch pilot hole on the spot.

    • 7

Screw the bottom mounting screw into place.

    • 8

Replace the 9-volt battery. Replace the battery compartment cover.
