Lay out the design to be cut in the driveway, locating and marking the corners using the tape measure lumber crayon, and then snapping cut guide lines using the chalk line.
Set the depth of the saw blade to 1 inch; this shallow depth will avoid cutting any reinforcing steel that is run throughout the driveway. Stretch the garden hose to the cutting area, with enough slack to be able to span the driveway.
Set the saw on the first line to cut (which line you cut first is not important), and gently push the running blade through the line. Keep the garden hose running at a trickle to help minimize dust while cutting.
Repeat Step 3 on remaining cut lines and rinse the driveway thoroughly with water when finished to wash away any dust and chalk.
