Instructions

    • 1

Design and draw the garage plan or purchase it from a designer. You may also find many sources in your local library or on the Internet.

    • 2

Build the floor. Decide the site for the garage and try to mark the margins for deciding the foundation of the garage floor. Use the excavation equipment for clearing and leveling the land for preparing the floor space. Try to start with footing and concreting the walls before making the foundation slab. It is a good idea to call the local concrete company for help in pouring the concrete.

    • 3

Build the walls. Start building the outside walls flat to the ground after the opening of the garage has been decided. The opening of doors and windows will help in deciding the perfect wall measurements. Nail everything properly and check the wall for squareness by measuring across diagonally from one corner to the other. When the two diagonals are found equal, the wall measurements are considered perfectly square. You may require some help to hoist the frame up. Thus, it is a good idea to call some friends or hire specialized equipment.

Frame the walls. Frame the exterior and interior walls after the excavation equipment fills the poured walls from within.

    • 5

Build the roof. Take proper measurements of the roofing area and cut the wood accordingly. Many people choose iron roofing for their garage because it is more sturdy, durable and long lasting. For roofing you will need ice guard, tar paper and shingles to fasten with possible ventilation.

Install doors, windows and the roof. For doing this, you will need nails and screws along with a drill. Call a professional carpenter for help if you are unsure of completing this process.
