Find a helper to assist you with removing your basketball pole. This task can be accomplished much more safely and efficiently with two people.
Climb the ladder and use wrenches to remove the upper parts of the basketball goal. This includes the backboard, hoop and net. Make sure you have a variety of wrenches, as every goal uses different-sized parts.
Hand down the pieces of the basketball goal to your helper as you remove them.
Dig a hole in the dirt surrounding the pole. Make the hole approximately 1 foot away from the pole on all sides and continue digging until you reach the cement surrounding the pole.
Break up the cement using your sledgehammer or hammer drill. Anchor the pole by having your helper hold onto it. Wear goggles to protect your eyes from any debris.
Pull up the pole with your helper once all the cement has been broken up. Set it flat on the ground.
Cut the basketball pole in half using your metal-cutting power saw. This will make the disposal process easier.
Dispose of the basketball pole and cement. In some areas, the trash collectors will pick these up, but in other neighborhoods, it may be necessary to bring the pieces to the nearest garbage dump.
