Brick Pavers Vs. Concrete Drive

Spending money on a home project such as a new driveway involves making a major decision on whether to install concrete brick pavers or poured concrete. Knowing what the differences are between the two help to make a better choice.
  1. Brick Pavers

    • Over time brick pavers are susceptible to chips or cracks due to sharp impacts or wear and tear. If damage occurs, then pavers are individually removed and replaced.

    Poured Concrete

    • Poured concrete is installed large slabs. If a concrete slab is cracked or chipped then it has to be dug up, removed and poured all over again.

    Cost

    • Calculating the cost for brick pavers or poured concrete is basically the same. In some areas brick pavers are about 15 percent more expensive than concrete. The extra cost to pouring concrete driveway is the excavation of the site, if contracted out.

    Benefits

    • The rich coloring of brick pavers adds beauty to any driveway alone with the vast number of designs that can be used. Poured concrete is less porous than brick paver, so it reduces damages caused by whether cycles.

    Duration

    • Pavers are easier to install then concrete but concrete breaks more often than pavers.
