Cut lemons in half. Squeeze the lemons over the stain. Allow the juice to soak into the stain for five minutes. The more time the juice has to set into the rust, the better the removal will be.
Scrub the stain with a scrub brush. Work the lemon into the rust. The rust should begin to change the color of the lemon juice and you will see the stain disappearing.
Rinse away the rust and lemon with water. Repeat as needed. Ensure that drainage does not allow the rust and lemon to leak into plant beds.
Apply a generous amount of vinegar over the rust stain if the lemon didn't work. Allow the vinegar to sit on the stain for a minimum of five minutes.
Scrub the stain with a scrub brush. Work the vinegar into the rust. The rust should begin to change the color of the vinegar.
Rinse the vinegar and rust with clean water. Repeat as needed.
Pour the crystallized chemical over the rust stain as the last option. Apply small amounts of water to the chemical.
Scrub the crystals and water into the rust. It will begin to create a soapy texture. Allow the soapy texture to rest for 30 minutes. Keep children and animals away from the chemical.
Scrub the mixture again until the rust is gone.
Rinse the chemical away. This chemical will kill plants if they are exposed to it.
