Instructions

    • 1

Test fit the glass door in the door opening by holding the door in the opening. This step requires two people to hold the door to make sure you do not damage the door or the opening.

    • 2

Check the door sill with a 6-foot level to make sure it is level. If the sill requires a shim, use high impact plastic to insert on the sill.

    • 3

Sand the pre-existing frame around the door frame using sand paper. This will ensure that polyurethane sealant will stick to the surrounding frame.

    • 4

Apply two continuous beads of 3/8-inch polyurethane sealant onto the bottom sill of the door. Continue the bead of sealant approximately 6 inches up the side of the door frame. If you placed shims on the sill, make sure they are imbedded in the sealant you place on the sill.

    • 5

Apply a primary seal of polyurethane sealant around the original perimeter of the door frame. This should be a 3/8-inch continuous bead of sealant.

    • 6

Apply a 3/8-inch continuous bead of the same sealant on the back side of the fin on the sliding glass door. This seal is considered a secondary seal.

    • 7

Place the stationary portion of the door in the opening from the outside of the building.

    • 8

Check the newly installed door to make sure it is level by placing a 6-foot level on the base of the door.

    • 9

Check the door jambs to make sure they are level by using the longest level that will fit in the doorway opening. Insert high impact plastic shims where necessary.

    • 10

Fasten the door to the frame using 6-inch screws and a cordless drill. Fasten the screws no more than every 16 inches along the frame heads and jambs. Also insert screws into areas where you installed shims to secure them in place. Do not install any screws into the door sill. Install screws between 3 and 10 inches from the corners on the door frame.

    • 11

Install the provided handle onto the sliding glass door using screws and a screwdriver.

    • 12

Install the vented – sliding – portion of the door into the door frame by inserting the top of the door into the frame first. Slide the bottom portion of the door into the frame. Make sure the door is in the open position.

    • 13

Adjust the rollers on the sliding glass door potion by removing the adjustment hole plugs. They are located at the inside bottom of the interior of the sliding glass door. Use a putty knife to lift the door to keep from stripping the wheels. Insert a screwdriver into the adjustment hole. Turn the screwdriver to the right to raise the rollers and to the left to lower them. Reinstall the hole plugs once you have adjusted the rollers.

    • 14

Remove the silver tab on the strike plate using a screwdriver to pop it off. Loosen the screw behind the tab to move the strike plate up or down to match the plate on the sliding glass door. The two plates need to align so that the door will lock. Once you have the strike plate in the proper place, tighten the screw and replace the silver tab.

    • 15

Fasten the strike plate in place with 3-inch screws and a cordless drill.

    • 16

Slide the glass door back and forth several times to make sure it is in proper working order.
