# How to Program a Garage Remote Control
Automatic garage door openers have become nearly standard on all types of garage doors, and they feature a number of popular opener brands. Whatever the brand is, you can program your remote from inside of your garage using your remote and access to your garage motor. Once programmed, you will be able to open and close the garage door from as far as a couple hundred feet away in your car or in the house.

Enter your garage with your remote and locate the "Smart" button on the back of the opener motor unit. This is located on the back of the unit by the light lens.

Press and release the "Smart" button and wait for the LED light next to the button to begin flashing.

Press and hold the "Open" button on your remote within 30 seconds.

Wait for the main light on the motor unit to flash, then release the "Open" button.

Wait 30 seconds for the LED light on the unit to stop flashing. The programming will be completed.
