Instructions

    • 1

Measure 2 to 3 inches up from the bottom corner; the corner is opposite the hinged side of the door. If the door front has a decorative frame, center the knob on the decorative frame. For flat door fronts measure 2 to 3 inches from the vertical edge of the door. Mark the spot on the door front where the two measurements intersect.

    • 2

Select a screw that will extend 1/4 inch beyond the back of the door. A 1/4-inch extension will allow enough space to attach the nut. For knobs that will be attached by a screw that is inserted from the back of the door to the front, the screw should penetrate the knob enough so the knob does not twist or wobble.

    • 3

Insert a drill bit into an electric hand drill that is the same diameter as the screw, or no more than 1/64 inch larger than the screw. Place the bit on the mark and drill from the front of the door to the back. Drill slowly with minimal pressure to prevent splintering the wood on the back of the door.

    • 4

Push the screw through the hole and attach the handle.
