Instructions to Install a Security Door Pneumatic Closer

A pneumatic door closer is a door-closing device that works by using compressed air in a cylinder to control the closing arm attached to the door. These closers are often attached to security doors to make sure the door closes properly when not in use. These closers pull the door shut to ensure security and help it to close smoothly and tightly. Pilot holes are drilled on both the door and the jamb for two brackets and the closer's pneumatic arm attaches to the brackets.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the door jamb bracket template that came with your door closer into place as directed in the closer's printed instructions. Using this template, install the door jamb bracket into the location specified by the directions. Drill pilot holes as necessary for the screws to attach the bracket to the jamb frame.

    • 2

Attach the frame arm to the jamb bracket, inserting the pin through both the bracket side end of the closer arm and the appropriate spot on the bracket to secure it into place. Attach the door bracket to the other end of the closer arm.

    • 3

Close the door and place the door bracket and closer arm against the door where the bracket should attach. Drill pilot holes into the door where necessary for the bracket to be secured by the screws. Attach the door bracket to the door.

    • 4

Adjust the pneumatic closer to ensure it closes the door smoothly and tightly. Your closer probably has a screwing mechanism for adjusting the tension of the pneumatic arm.
