Instructions

    • 1

Open the Grumman sliding door and step outside. Locate the weather stripping around the frame of the door on the exterior of the house. Look in the corners first to locate it and follow it around the entire perimeter.

    • 2

Cut the top left corner diagonally with a utility knife and pull down carefully with needle-nose pliers to remove the first piece. Cut the other side and remove the weather stripping in the same manner. Peel off the top section and inspect the area to make sure it is clean and there is no residue remaining. Scrape off any remaining residue with a putty knife. Wash off any dirt and debris with soap and a wet rag. Scrub thoroughly until all the residue is gone.

    • 3

Measure the Grumman door where the old weather stripping was located to determine how long the new pieces will need to be. Transfer the measurement onto the first piece of weather stripping and mark where the cut will need to be made. Cut it with a utility knife to fit.

    • 4

Line up the first piece of new weather stripping vertically along either side and push it in the grooves located on the frame of the sliding glass door. The weather stripping is made specifically to fit in the grooves. Run your hands up the entire first piece and push it into place.

Cut the second piece to size just like the first and install it in the other side. Measure and cut the third and final piece to go across the top. Line it up and push down carefully to secure it in place. Inspect the area to make sure everything has been pushed down enough and no parts are sticking up.
