Instructions

    • 1

Open the exterior door and remove the existing deadbolt hardware. Use an appropriate size screwdriver, if applicable. Remove the deadbolt hardware template from the instruction documentation, supplied with the Schlage BE365. Cut the template along the dotted lines.

    • 2

Measure the distance between the center portion of the circular deadbolt mounting hole from the edge of the door, using the template supplied with the kit. Note the measurement according to the instructions listed on the template.

    • 3

Grasp the deadbolt sliding mechanism and adjust the spacing to the appropriate 70 mm or 60 mm setting, by rotating the installed faceplate 180-degrees. Examine the side of the door to determine the appropriate deadbolt faceplate needed. The kit includes a flat squared, flat rounded square and round recessed faceplate.

    • 4

Pry off the existing faceplate from the deadbolt sliding mechanism, using a flathead screwdriver if needed. Press the appropriate faceplate on to the deadbolt sliding mechanism.

    • 5

Insert the deadbolt sliding mechanism in to the appropriate hole, located on the side of the door, with the "TOP" etched on the side of the mechanism, facing right side up. Use a hammer and small block of wood to install the deadbolt mechanism, when using the round recessed faceplate.

    • 6

Secure the deadbolt sliding mechanism to the door, using a Phillips head screwdriver and the two small screws supplied with the kit. Retract the deadbolt latch into the door by rotating the center cam lock, visible from the large round hardware hole, with a flathead screwdriver.

    • 7

Fit the exterior keypad mounting plate to the exterior portion of the door, with the "TOP" arrow printed on the rear of the inside plate, facing up. Pull the wiring connector though the large round hole, over the top portion of the deadbolt sliding mechanism.

    • 8

Fit the interior mounting plate to the interior side of the door. Pull the wiring connector through the square-shaped opening and secure the interior/exterior mounting plates together, using the supplied screws.

    • 9

Connect the wiring from the exterior mounting plate to the wiring connection found on the interior mounting plate. Connect a fresh 9-Volt battery to the battery connector and slide the battery in to the appropriate holder.

    • 10

Secure the interior top thumb turn cover plate to the interior mounting plate, using the two small screws supplied with the kit and a Phillips head screwdriver. Make sure the thumb turn points away from the door edge for a proper fit.

    • 11

Press the "Schlage" button on the keypad and rotate the exterior tumbler to extend the deadbolt. Press the "Schlage" button again, then enter one of the user codes supplied with the kit and turn the exterior tumbler clockwise to verify proper operation.
