Read the manufacturer's directions to determine the best placement for the closer. The directions tell you precise measurements for your specific door and closer.
Mark the proper measurements on the hinge side door jamb. Line up the jamb bracket with the measurements you made. Use a level to check that the bracket is sitting straight. Mark the screw holes' locations and set the bracket aside. Drill pilot holes through each screw hole marking with a 1/8-inch drill bit.
Line up the bracket's screw holes with the pilot holes. Secure the bracket to the jamb with the provided screws.
Pull the rod out of the closer's tube until the groove appears. Slide the holding washer over the end of the rod. The holding washer bends toward the tube. Position the holding washer so it holds the rod out to the proper length.
Put the rod's end into the jamb bracket. Line up the rod's holes with the bracket's holes. Insert the supplied short screw through the holes. Place the door bracket on the closer's other end. Line up the closer's holes with the bracket's holes and insert the supplied long screw.
Close the screen door. Hold a level on top of the closer and position the closer so it is sitting straight. Mark the door bracket's screw holes on the screen door with a center punch. Gently lower the closer and open the screen door.
Drill 1/8-inch pilot holes through each marking on the door. Close the door and line up the door bracket's holes with the pilot holes. Secure the bracket in place using the supplied screws.
