Measure the door opening with a tape measure and cut the door frame to length with a reciprocating saw. Lay out the pieces on the floor, verifying they are square. Nail the frame together with nails and a hammer.
Place the door frame inside the opening where the sliding doors will be installed. Verify the legs of the frame are plumb with a carpenter's level. Insert the shims to adjust and provide a nailing surface.
Check the top members of the door frame using the carpenter's level to verify it's level. Insert the shims into the top of the door frame.
Attach the frame in place by nailing through the shims with nails and the hammer.
Measure the door opening and add in the track dimensions with the tape measure. Measure and trim the sliding doors to fit with the reciprocating saw. Score the bottom of the doors with a utility knife.
Place the sliding doors on a flat, sturdy surface and trim to length with a circular saw. Follow the score marks, as your guide, for trimming the doors.
Attach the top track to the door frame according to the manufacturer's directions. Level the track to the top of the door frame and secure it with screws and a drill.
Secure the brackets and rollers onto the upper end of the door with the screws provided and the drill. Make sure the hardware will not interfere with the movement of the rollers.
Place the door rollers inside the top track by hand and hang the door in place. Repeat for the second door.
Verify that the doors are plumb and level with the carpenter's level. If necessary, make adjustments with the roller and bracket hardware until they're plumb and level.
Attach the floor brackets according to the manufacturer's directions. Locate the area under the corner of each door and secure the brackets to the floor with screws and the drill.
Install the door hardware according to the manufacturer's directions. Sliding doors have hardware inset inside the door, allowing for easy movement.
