How to Hang a Pivot Door

Pivot doors are a common kind of shower door. Unlike sliding shower doors, pivot doors swing open. You hang pivot doors on a set of hinges, like you hang regular interior doors. However, the hinges for pivot doors are typically stainless steel rather that brass or steel. If the shower you choose is designed for pivot doors and has preinstalled hinges, you can hang whatever kind of pivot door you want.

Shims
Tape measure
Stainless steel screws
Screw gun

Instructions

  Set shims on the bottom of the entryway in the shower where the pivot door will hang.

  Rest the pivot door directly on top of the shims. It should have approximately 1/4 to 1/2 inch of clearance or more.

  Line up the predrilled holes in the pivot door with the holes in the hinges installed on the shower enclosure.

  Fasten the pivot door to the hinges using stainless steel screws and a screw gun.
- 5
  Remove the shims, and swing the pivot door open and closed on the shower to finish hanging the shower door.
