How to Change Mirrored Closet Doors

Mirrored closet doors are ideal for smaller bedrooms because they make the room appear larger. These doors also provide a head-to-toe reflection to see how an outfit looks. The downside to these mirrored closet doors is they become scratched and over time, with regular cleaning, may become dull or hazy looking. To retain the advantages of mirrored closet doors, you can simply install new ones.

  Slide the mirrored closet doors together, moving them to the center of the closet.

  Grasp the outer mirrored closet door with one hand on each side, just below the halfway point.

  Squat slightly, bending your knees, then lift the outer mirrored closet door up and pull the bottom away from the tracks.

  Continue to lift the outer mirrored closet door to dismount it from the top track, then pull it out of the opening and set it aside.

  Grasp the inner mirrored closet door in the middle, in the same manner as you did the outer door.

  Pull the inner door up and out of the opening.

  Measure the height and width of one of the old mirrored closet doors with a tape measure.

  Purchase new mirrored closet doors of the same size at a local home improvement store or a closet builder/organizer retailer.

  Unwrap the packaging covering the new mirrored closet doors, then install the inner door first by setting it into the opening on the top and bottom track.

  Slide the inner door from side to side to ensure it is properly placed on the tracks. Then set the outer mirrored closet door on the outer tracks and slide it back and forth as well.
